This is a really fun sequel. Clines does a great job of putting his heroes in situations that neutralize their powers. Captain Freedom is a nice addition to an already strong cast of characters.

I read the first in this series, “Ex-Heroes”, last year and have finally gotten around to finishing this second book. They‘re entertaining and quick reads, perfect for a flight, but not quality literature. It‘s post-apocalyptic with zombies and super-heroes, plenty of cliches, and a bit too much misogyny.
I am going to keep reading this superheroes vs. zombies series because the author delivers on that concept, plus I'm a sucker for gratuitous pop culture references. But I just can't shake the thought that these books are kind of written with the male gaze.
