This book was so cute! It really will allow students of color to make personal connections and feel empowered! I love the message of this book. It is a realistic fiction picture book and I would use the read aloud strategy to really enforce key ideas and visualization

Hannacallaham For ESOL I would choose 14. Simplify your speech by making it slower and redundant and 3. Encourage self talk 5y
Hannacallaham For UDL I would implement 7.2 and 9.1 5y

Not Quite Snow White by Ashley Franklin (traditional lit, published 2019) was an adorable book. It is a FANTASTIC take on a classic everyone knows. It takes on such a large issues in this day and age- race, self image, and so much more! A book i definitely think it‘s fantastic to have in any classroom library.

New into the library—donated by a parent who read a good review—is this book about a young girl who wants to play Snow White in the school play until she overhears some other students whispering she just isn‘t princess material. Except...maybe those students are wrong & maybe Tamika has exactly what it takes to play the part. A delightful story & great book for inclusion & diversity. I ❤️ that our parents are always on the lookout for great books!
