This book has some touching and beautiful moments. It would be best to try to read it all in one go as it represents one night's journey through nature. My Little One has been interrupting my reading a lot the last few days, which has made it tricky for me to follow the story.

"I decided that the skylark's song was like the taste of apricot while the thrush's was closer to the tartness of a freshly picked gooseberry. A bullfinch's soft call is the taste of pear and the song of the wren has the intensity of a clementine, but a blackbird's voice has both the delicacy of a blueberry plus the velvet depth of vintage grape."
