Each year, on the same night in July, a woman is taken from the streets of London. Gone without a trace; snatched by a killer who moves through the city like a ghost. Lex's wife is missing. She left for work on the morning of the July 7th bombings, and no one's seen her since. But was Olivia really among the attack victims? Or did she meet a different fate, like three other women on July nights before? Addie has a secret. On the night of the bombings, her dad came home covered in blood. At first she thought he was hurt in the attacks - and then her big sister Jessie found a woman's purse hidden in his room. The name on the driver's license? Olivia. Jessie says she wants to help. That's why she's taken a job as a nanny at Lex's house, looking after his baby. But she's keeping quiet about what she and Addie know. And she's getting a little too comfortable living Olivia's life... Praise for the work of Phoebe Locke: 'This summer's scariest thriller' Stylist 'What a creepy and compelling debut - fantastic!' This was an interesting story with some clever twists towards the end. I had figured out a few of them or were close to working them out. The story is a steady one with some big time jumps to progress the plot onwards. The plot is well done and does have you guessing along the way like Addie. The ending was simple but it worked for the book and was the best outcome given the circumstances. #Netgalley 4*

This psychological thriller was fantastically tense and really surprised me a couple of times! Full review on my blog now if you fancy reading!

I received this e-arc through Netgalley. My review is my own honest opinion.

As the story continues, we see Addie grow from a 10 year old to a young adult, with the Magpie in the background all the time….there is an ever present feeling of menace, like something seen in the corner of your eye, building until the marvellously twisty and surprising ending. Original and compelling, definitely one of my favourites this year.
