Bullet-Catcher's Daughter
Bullet-Catcher's Daughter | Rod Duncan
Finalist for the 2014 Phillip K. Dick Award Elizabeth Barnabus lives a double life as herself and as her brother, the private detective. She is trying to solve the mystery of a disappearing aristocrat and a hoard of arcane machines. In her way stand the rogues, freaks and self-proclaimed alchemists of a travelling circus. But when she comes up against an agent of the all-powerful Patent Office, her life and the course of history will begin to change. And not necessarily for the better "File Under" Fantasy"

Pickpick

An excellent start to the series. I loved Elizabeth Barnabas and found the world she inhabited to be as fantastic as it was familiar - so strange to have such familiar place names but for them to seem so alien, it was brilliantly mystifying for me. Looking forward to starting the second book!

It was a nice departure from some of the series I have been reading. Still not a fan of steampunk but willing to give the rest of the series a try.

Happy Sunday, Littens!

This week and weekend have been crazy busy, with barely any reading time, but I finally found a few minutes to get some chapters in. Now to see if I can covert those minutes to hours. 😉

#booksandbrews What could be better? #steampunk mystery with a traveling circus and a private detective with a double life. Should be fun!

MrBook This pairing looks great! Which fine beverage do I see? 8y

Cross-dressing! Pinkertons! Circus folk! This book is not as exciting as these things might suggest, but the heroine was pretty solid. I'd pick up the sequel if my TBR pile wasn't already threatening to collapse my bookshelf.
