I always feel weird saying I "enjoyed" a #truecrime book, but there it is. Good for true crime fans and those just getting into it. Not sensationalized or too dense. Sensitive depiction of grief and what the families go through. Also an interesting, brief look at a part of the Japanese justice system.

Page turner at first but it slows down in the middle as others have said. It does pick back up, though. I had it figured out pretty early on but the author kept me second guessing myself until the end so it was pretty enjoyable. The tarot parts were fun. #mystery #thriller

Took a break from my urban fantasy binge to read this #historicalfiction about the deadliest disaster in maritime history, the sinking of Wilhelm Gustloff. This was so good. Haunting, vivid, and heartbreaking. Great weaving together of the four character viewpoints. I definitely recommend this one.

Finally read a book I've had forever. I'm definitely interested in the characters and the world. It felt like I was missing a lot of information or that there should have been another book before this one but it was still enjoyable overall. I'm glad I have a whole series of books to jump into or I think I'd be more disappointed with this one. I hear it gets better so charging forward to the next one! #shapeshifters #vampires #fantasy

Not my usual read, I admit. One of the most disturbing things I've read. Super triggering and twisted. While it was a page turner at first, I found myself disappointed over alI. I enjoyed the mystery and some of the twists. Unfortunately, the ending felt glossed over and rushed to me, which is kind of a bummer. I'm not sure how I feel about this book. Lol...

Loved it! It keeps up the pace of the series so far and keeps getting better. Intense and emotional. Some questions answered and more questions asked. I can't wait for the next one! On a side note, the new cover design doesn't match the other two in the series, which kind of bugs me. It's a beautiful picture though. #ya #yafantasy #fantasy

Not my usual pick but it was recommended to me. I'm not vegetarian but the concept of growing 100% real meat (or even just leather), sustainably, without having to raise and slaughter an animal is fascinating. Regardless of your viewpoint on the ethics of eating meat (either for the animals themselves or the environmental impact) this is actually a pretty interesting read. I recommend a #borrow from your library.

Beautiful cover. Awesome concept. Just okay execution. It was a struggle to get through. The writing style just kept throwing me out. I thought the character's relationships developed nicely but I just didn't care that much. Disappointed in this one but I get that I'm not the target audience. Recommend a #borrow on this if you want to give it a try. #ya #yafantasy #steampunk

tonyahoswalt I'm a little over 100 pages in and I'm still not sure I like the writing style. Plus, with what it's about, I expected the words themselves to be more special, more magical, more lyrical. It's just okay for me so far. 6y

In the first 20 pages, it felt like the author was checking boxes with stereotypical examples of how his main character is a kickass female. Not such a bad thing. I like the trope. It just felt a little heavy handed at first. Ceda grew into a really awesome character. Kind of a slow start to the story but glad I stuck with it. Sometimes predictable, but enjoyable. Interesting world and cast. Definitely reading the next one. #fantasy #epicfantasy

Wow. I'd never heard of this story. It blows my mind to imagine radioactive material in everyday items and once thought to be healthy. The story of these women is heartbreaking, powerful, and inspiring. It's really distressing to read about the pain and suffering the Radium Girls went through. The lengths the corporations went to in order to cover up what they knew was hurting these women is infuriating. Excellent read.

Emotional and adorable. I loved it. This is another book I needed as a teen. Anxiety and panic attacks are portrayed wonderfully. The cast of characters is diverse and interesting. Each one comes to life even with the single character first person perspective. I enjoyed watching the friendship of Steffi (selective mute) and Rhys (deaf) develop and grow. A book about friendship and love and speaking your truth. #ya

It was quite interesting, though not a very focused book. There really isn't very much about the expedition itself. I would have liked more description of the time spent there. There were some really beautiful and terrifying experiences in the jungle. I enjoyed the discussion of the history of the area. The last section was about disease, which was fascinating (and horrible) but not what I was expecting. Maybe #borrow this from your library.
