FAITH DEVILIN: A poor, outcast child in Prescott, Louisiana, she'd always adored the town's golden boy from afar. But he called her white trash that sultry Southern night when his rich, respected father disappeared, along with her pretty Mom. Now Faith wanted to hate Gray Rouillard...not to feel a powerful surge of desire. But she couldn't quench her passion, any more than she could hide the truth about the past she had waited so long to unravel. GRAY ROUILLARD: Even when he raised hell, he did it with style. Reckless, charming, and backed by Rouillard money, Gray controlled the town of Prescott -- and Devlin was a name he never wanted to hear again. But when he gazed at Faith Devlin, all he saw was a swirl of tangled sheets and her silken flesh beneath him. To care for her was impossible, unthinkable...because Gray Rouillard planned to use all his power to ruin her.

#songsofsummer @Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @OriginalCyn620 #hotsummernight The blurb on the back cover reads: “...blazes with intrigue. Add in some sultry Southern heat, and you‘ve got a real scorcher of a read.” 😂 love it! Also I burned a hole in my scarf making this picture...

OriginalCyn620 Oh no! Poor scarf ☹️ it‘s a nice photo though! 5y

Mehso-so

I was home with a sick kid and this title showed up on my GR feed and I thought, "I could go for some old-skool 90's romantic suspense today." Unfortunately, it started slow while we slogged through the history/back story, the H/h don't actually spend much time together, and their feelings really don't seem at all based on anything genuine, just left over puppy-love and lust. I did finish it, though. My suggestion: read Mr. Perfect instead.

EloisaJames I always loved that opening scene, tho--talk about a challenging conflict--the part where he had her evicted in her nightgown at fourteen? Yikes!! 7y
MarriedtoMrT @EloisaJames I agree! That scene was great but it didn't happen until chapter 5, about 20% through the book (according to Kindle). I'm the kind of reader who likes to get thrown into the fire so I just wished we'd started on that day or just before that day or maybe even revisited that scene and some of the supporting history in flashbacks instead of so much opening exposition. 7y
