Vi, a twenty-something who‘s been dumped and lost direction in her life, finds a sentient blob in an alley and takes it home. She then decides to mold it into the perfect man. This was weird and quirky and really boring! Vi is pretty unlikable and very uninteresting. This could have been so much more, so much hilarity could‘ve ensued, but it fell flat for me.

Normally, I don‘t like character driven novels but I was pretty engrossed in this one! It is a good book, but Queen Meryl‘s narration put it over the top. During the pandemic, Lara‘s 3 daughters return to the family‘s cherry orchard to help with the harvest, and they beg her to tell the story of the summer she dated a famous movie star and worked as an actress.

My 16 yo loves all the movies, and I‘ve watched the newer ones with her. For a con last summer, she dressed as Ghostface, and she met Skeet Ulrich and Matthew Lillard! But I had to ask her a few times to take off the mask 🤣

So cute! Zelda, a witch with secrets, has been living a quiet life for the last decade. I love Frankenstein as well as a good retelling! In the near future, reanimation has been regulated, but POTUS (needing a political win) decides to crack down on the “stitchers.” The story is told from the POV of an unnamed paralegal, a stitcher still navigating his new world, under a more hostile political climate.

This was eerily accurate to what‘s going on in the US right now!

I really couldn‘t stand the narrator‘s voice for the MMC (it‘s narrated by the author), so that detracted some enjoyment for me. The story itself was good, but this romance was clean. Like squeaky clean. I like at least some spice in my romances! Overall, this just didn‘t work for me.

Very cute cozy! Quinn moves from Seattle to a small village in Ireland after breaking a witchy rule. She‘s to take over running the village bookstore, and literally stumbles over a dead body on her first day. On top of trying to solve the murder, she also finds that a vampire book club meets in secret at her shop.
