Pickpick

Pearl wants to hunt whales like her father in Washington's Olympic Peninsula, but tragedy strikes and the world of the Makah people is changing. As Pearl struggles to support her family, she also searches for ways to preserve the Makah history.

This beautifully written historical fiction novel is great for older elementary and middle schoolers.

BookInMyHands Also, while the author is white, she spent time living on the Quinault reservation, and worked with her friends there for suggestions and changes before publication. 8y
