Like all her books, expertly plotted and overflowing with detail, insight into each and every character (big and small). Clocking in at slightly shy of 900 pages, it's a commitment - however, if you want to follow a team as they try and solve a seemingly random crime I think this cuts close to reality. As always, nice to spend time with Lynley and Havers. Pick it up if you are an Elizabeth George faithful and haven't gotten to it yet.

#riotgrams #day9 #AuthorOrCharacterWhoSharesYourName Elizabeth is not an awfully popular name for writers, it's a bit old fashioned. But one of my favourite authors happens to share my name instead. Her Inspector Lynley series is fantastic, I have all 19 of her books, ever since the first novel in 1988. Lynley & Havers is one of the best partnerships in crime fiction, and she's not afraid to kill off main characters either. Highly recommend.

ErickaS_Flyleafunfurled When we chose the name Elizabeth for our daughter, we found a quote (Im pretty sure it was George Orwell) that said something like, "If you want your daughter to be both smart and beautiful, name her Elizabeth" 7y
Lizpixie @ErickaS_Flyleafunfurled oh that's lovely! Growing up, I hated my name. The nicknames I used to get called were awful. But it's now grown on me I suppose. 7y
Lindy @Lizpixie @ErickaS_Flyleafunfurled the child in this picture book hates nicknames too: 7y
ErickaS_Flyleafunfurled @Lindy I must get this book! Ha! 7y

I did it! This screenshot is meant to show that 100% on This Body of Death. I'd been putting off a challenge task to read a 600+ page book. At nearly 700 pages, there's a lot going on in this book but all the parts come together in a way that makes it all worth it. I love all the character details, which makes it much more than a mystery story. I especially love Havers, and wish this book had her in more scenes with Lynley.

This is a long book, but that's why I chose it. I finally found a 600+ page book I could stick with to fit that task on my reading challenge.

ReadingOver50 Are you doing the Read Harder challenge? 8y
MallenNC Every year a friend and I do a reading challenge posted by PopSugar. But it overlaps with a lot of the Read Harder challenge so I'm trying to do both. The 600+ book is the hardest for me! @ReadingOver50 8y
ReadingOver50 I just heard of the Pop Sugar one this year. I might do it next year. 😄 8y
