Finally finished this solid book on WW2 history from a British pov. Invasion on first few days was best. After it up to the liberation of Paris was harder to deal with but still good.

I'm reading an account of D-Day by a British author. I liked his book on Stalingrad.
Antony Beevor has an incredible ability when it comes to research and writing. D-day is another exceptional example of this, with detailed analysis of this War defining event and its immediate aftermath. Not just the military but political and at times personal impact of D-day are laid bare in his well researched writing. A must have for WW2 enthusiasts and in my humble opinion, his best work.
Going back to my old fascination with World War 2. Antony Beevor is one of the go to historians on this period, incredibly researched and knowledgeable. This book provides an in-depth coverage of the Normandy campaign, from the initial landings, to the final breakout leading to the Falaise pocket and the occupation of Paris. Provides a picture of the allies relearning mechanised warfare while the Germans battled against lack of resources.
