4 posts | 5 read
Born and raised in the Netherlands, Dr Jan Pol is star of the National Geographic television show The Incredible Dr. Pol. He has been treating animals in Michigan since the 1970s. His more than 20,000 patients have ranged from white mice to horses and everything in between. In Never Turn Your Back On An Angus Cow, Dr Pol shares his own story of growing up surrounded by animals, training to be a vet in the Netherlands and moving to Michigan to open his first practice.

Finished this audiobook yesterday and was left with a feeling of happy enjoyment. This is a great read for fans of the show,as you get a bit of a behind the scenes peek at the conception of the show and even about some of the episodes. Mostly though, this is an accounting of dr. Pols incredible life and his love of animal. Unfortunately the audiobook isn‘t read by him, which is the only negative thing I can say about this.

Found out this existed today and lucky for me, my library has the digital audiobook. Lucky me! I love Dr. Pol :)

Got this for my parents. He is a vet in Michigan and was also an exchange student at the high school my family graduated from (seriously over half my family went to the same school over the years)

OrangeMooseReads @bookish_wookish I‘ve only watched it a few times when it was on Netflix or Hulu. He‘s an interesting guy. 5y

Love this book! 5 out of 5. It's an easy read and the Dutch directness is funny combined with the American style of living. Yes there are some sad moments but if you love animals (or the tv series) i definitly recommend reading this book.
