This book was a wild ride! I dont want to give too much away because it takes a lot of turns you dont expect! One warning though is that its incredibly gory but the gore is so well written. Everything has a reason and those reasons slowly play out through the story. This was so well written!

kspenmoll Nice review but not sure Squeamish me can handle the gore! 4w

I just wanted to give a heads up to anyone wanting to read this book that there is a lot of Spanish. Full paragraphs on almost every page without the translation like authors sometimes do. I can read Spanish to a degree but its tripping me up and slowing me down. Have your google ready! I do like how its structured going from Spanish to English when character are talking because it makes it real!

Megabooks BOTM sent a small translation book with their copies, and now I‘m glad! 1mo

I dont know what to say about this one! Did you ever read something and feel like something bigger is going on and you‘re missing it? I kept thinking i skipped chapters and it was a really slow read. Im still not sure i understand what happened because it was really all over the place! The description was way better than the actual story!

This was a quick read! Its a retelling of Poe‘s The Fall of The House of Usher. Its a really good retelling. I read the authors note and she said after reading Poe‘s version she was left with a lot of questions and wanted more details. So, she wrote her own version. Very much following the original with character names, etc. but also so much more!

I blew through this book in two sittings! If you are squimish though this one isnt for you. The best way to explain this story is that it explores religion, insanity and greed and the fine line between them. Theres so much happening at once in this story and its all woven so well! I dont want to give a single thing away!

vivastory I read online there's a part where a character has to smoke out of a pipe that may have formerly been someone's forearm 😬 3mo

Does anybody else do this?

Split up the pages into how many days you want to read the book in?

Ive found this is easier when a bunch of holds come in from the library and theyre all due back on the same day!

ItsAnotherJen I do this sometimes! Or set a goal of reading 50 or 100 pages each day of a book that I'm not really into but need to get through. 3mo

It says this is a thriller. I definitely wouldnt call this a thriller.
It built up for 400 pages for the ending to be a few pages and a total let down. The build up was a lot and it really kept you in the dark. Youre not even able to guess whats happening because theres no explanation and no names to characters so youre expecting this big bombshell at the end and it just fell flat. Felt almost rushed. It got me out of my reading slump though!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ for this one! The book has alternating chapters of Before and Now so you really get a good look into the backstory as the present events play out. It really makes you think how well do you really know someone? It explores friendship and survival and the fact that everyone has a secret, but how does all that shift when cut off from civilization? How far are you willing to go for revenge and what you feel is owed to you?
