Reading this one , it‘s a few years since I read Brookner. I like her more than I ever remember, such a calming influence. I‘ll have to gather my thoughts to try and explain why I think she is so perfect. ♥️
sarahbarnes I want to read more of her! Lovely to hear you like her so much. 1y
Cathythoughts @sarahbarnes I do like her. She has a way of grounding me. I don‘t know why , something zen about the way she writes and what she writes about. (edited) 1y
Suet624 I haven‘t read her in years! Guess I should consider picking up a recent book. 😉 1y

Cathythoughts @squirrelbrain Hi Helen 👋🏻 Thanks X 1y
LeahBergen I‘m always so pleasantly surprised when I pick up one of her novels. 1y
Ruthiella I love only liked Hotel du Lac but the other two I read from her depressed me. It‘s been a few years, however. Maybe I should give her another shot? 🤔 1y
Cathythoughts @Ruthiella Yes I can see she could be depressing , very depressing. But she doesn‘t have that effect on me. I‘ll have to be thinking about it. Interesting 🤔 1y
Cathythoughts @LeahBergen Yes , that‘s what‘s just happened to me , I‘m pleasantly surprised! 😁 I‘ll have to pick her up more often. (edited) 1y
CarolynM @Ruthiella I‘m with you. I read a few many years ago - the passivity of the women left me both sad and frustrated. 1y
Ruthiella @CarolynM Glad I‘m not alone here. 1y
Centique I havent read this one but ive loved the three i have read. In those three at least i felt the women were strong in themselves, even if they were overlooked by others. 1y
Cathythoughts @Centique Yes , the women are interesting. This one has an existential feel to it. 1y
