Is this scholarly? No. Does it cover diverse authors? Definitely not. It mainly covers white, male, English speaking writers, with the occasional woman, Black writer, Russian author, or South American author thrown in. Is it a fun book? For the most part, yes. Two chapters — one on writers in jail and another (several chapters later) on authors who run afoul of the law could‘ve been combined. Overall, I enjoyed it, despite its flaws.

I think a reader with a palate more refined to Classic literature probably would have been more enamoured with this one but I enjoyed it nonetheless. A cute read with all kinds of interesting tidbits🤫

CoverToCoverGirl Great progress. I‘m lagging behind you still... lol 🙂 3y
