Mary Ingles was twenty-three, married, and pregnant, when Shawnee Indians invaded her peaceful Virginia settlement, killed the men and women, then took her captive. For months, she lived with them, unbroken, until she escaped, and followed a thousand mile trail to freedom--an extraordinary story of a pioneer woman who risked her life to return to her people. A quick check in for #BFCr2 Week 2!

Here‘re some pictures from the 3 (!) nature walks I did this week, plus a bonus photo of my husband napping with our nephew. (We‘re visiting this weekend.) ❤️

I‘m revising my book goal to 10 books, NOT limited to audiobooks listened to while exercising. I‘ve found I enjoy listening to nature better when I‘m hiking in the woods. I‘m at 3 read so far!

My hikes have sparked a desire to re-read the tagged book.

wanderinglynn Lovely photos! 💚 And way to go! 🙌🏻 5y
alisiakae I've never read the tagged book, but now I'm intrigued! Your nature walks all look lovely! I agree about listening to nature, I listen to audiobooks when walking in the neighborhood, but not when out on hikes or in more wooded areas. Great job this week! 5y

Pickpick

Based on the true story of Mary Ingles who was taken prisoner by the Shawnee Indians with her kids and two others. She‘s then traded to French hunters and escapes and walks all the way back. Great historical novel. Walks along some of he Ohio River, just landed in Ohio so this is an appropriate read.

RebelReader I read this years ago and loved it! 💚💚💚 7y

Read for book group...difficult subject matter and hard to get through.
