Byrd
Byrd: A Novel | Kim Church
4 posts | 4 read | 6 to read
In this debut novel, 33-year-old Addie Lockwood bears and surrenders for adoption a son, her only child, without telling his father, little imagining how the secret will shape their lives. Through letters and spare, precisely observed vignettes, Byrd explores a birth mothers coming to make and live with the most difficult, intimate, and far-reaching of choices.

3.75⭐️. This story takes the reader on a journey thru Addie's life from child, to adult, to the pivotal moment when a failed abortion changes the course of her life. It is written in an unusual style of a combination of short vignettes and letters written to the son she gave up for adoption. The majority of the story takes place in Greensboro and Raleigh NC.

#readingroadtrip Starting in North Carolina, the state most of my ancestors came through before they settled here in Tennessee over 215 years ago. This website helped me choose: https://www.ncdcr.gov/blog/2014/07/27/10-great-summer-reads-by-north-carolina-au... This is the closest I'm coming to #TBR for #sizzlingsummerbooks I've already selected my Tennessee book, have one #covertocover book almost finished, and soon to start #qgp1 book

Lola I bought a print of that image on Independent Bookstore Day. Love it! 8y
