Amazon opening across street from Ann Patchett‘s store. The difference between the two. #parnassusbooks https://www.nashvillepublicradio.org/post/what-happens-when-amazon-opens-across-...

vivastory I've been contemplating an Amazon boycott. News like this is definitely not helping their case. 2mo
LibrarianRyan @vivastory I will be happy to have you in my amazon boycott. I do not buy books from them. Some other stuff, but nothing reading or literature related. 2mo
Booksnchill Parnassus is my local independent- I think they will be fine- their customer base is loyal and their author events are amazing. Amazon will get the customers they would get anyway as Parnassus does not discount books- and hasn‘t needed to. #IndieStrong 2mo

Where'd she go? He wants to find her!

Joshua practically lives in airports because of all the mandatory traveling for work. He hates flying so he pops Valium along with a drink before each flight. In an airport bar at a layover, he meets a woman. She's mysterious, wears a hat and sunglasses covering her face. They hit it off, then she walks away. #netgalley

A short short story from Amazon‘s Disorder collection. When I finished it I let out a sad “oh” 😟. Http://amazon.com/Disorder

ValerieAndBooks I'm intrigued! I looked and it's $1.99 (I don't have amazon prime; think it would be free with that). Have you read the others in the collection (all six for $5.94)? Wondering if it's worthwhile.
4mo
Betty @ValerieAndBooks I haven‘t read the other 5 stories yet. I don‘t think the story is worth $1.99 plus tax. So short! 4mo

4 women work in the legal department of a large corp. A spreadsheet with names of sleazy men is passed around by email. Their boss‘ name is added to The BAD Men List. The women have to deal with the repercussions.
They cope with today's issues that also affect you and me. Some mini-essays cover success, motherhood, being nosy, judging, periods, guilt, fear of violence, & secrets. Well-written book. My favorite of 2019. Thanks, #NetGalley!

@dariazeoli Happiest decade to you! This is the Time magazine cover I mentioned in my card to you. 🎂🍷🍺🍸 #jb Note to others: I was depressed about turning 40; the week of my birthday this Time magazine came in my mailbox and lifted my spirits.

Kaye Turning 30 was worse for me. I think when you‘re still in your 20s, you sound like a young person, but 30s sounds like , you should be established , married, kids, house payment, decent car. Just MY feelings. I‘m not saying anyone else should do those things by 30. 10mo
Betty @kaye actually turning 35 was the worst. Years later when I talked to my younger cousins, THEY said 35 was a hard year for them too. Did you ever watch the old tv series Thirty-something ? (edited) 10mo
Kaye @Betty No I never watched that show. I haven‘t watched to in years. I‘m a bit out of the loop. 10mo
