Making some progress on my #readingroadtrip

I really enjoyed Mudbound. The author did a wonderful job of transporting me the Mississippi Delta. Each character had a strong individual voice that really made this a page turner. An interesting look into the racial atmosphere of post WWII in the south.

A girl wakes up in a kidnapped-tortured situation and remembers nothing, not even who she is, and the mystery unfolds quickly. A perfectly acceptable thriller, even if it‘s a little too perfect at the end for my tastes.

I got this on sale on Audible a while back and used it today for my final book for the #readingroadtrip challenge. I read 28 books for 28 states over 3 months to finish in Oregon.😃

Just beautiful. People-watching in Winesburg, Ohio. It's somewhere between a novel and short stories, as George Willard, the young newspaper reporter and son of the proprietors of new Willard House hotel runs across the town residents. We get told of their lives, so many of them trying to fit in or find ... something. And the writing is beautiful!

Well I finally made it to California on my #readingroadtrip! And I've got to say, this one did not disappoint!

I loved this book. It was heartbreaking, snarky and engrossing. It had a wonderful old Hollywood feel to it, but also managed to deal with some really important issues and topics as well. Evelyn Hugo was a queen 👸!

Another wonderful book that I probably wouldn't have read if it wasn't for my #readingroadtrip ❤️

This is a slow, beautiful story about several characters and their intersecting lives in rural Colorado. At times sad, funny, hopeful, and infuriating, with great writing and narration. Loved it, and I think I may look for more by Haruf.

Finished this before going to sleep last night but couldn't take a pic in the dark. I know I'm late to the party but what a great read. Loved that it confronted our fear of discussing mortality and the blend of science, literature and philosophy was unique and beautiful, and the writing, whilst emotional, was also calming and reassuring.
My Arizona read for #readingroadtrip which means I'm in California and nearly finished my trip!

Boy, was this ever a tough read.

Rachel Carson's writing is beautiful - few people can describe a parasitic wasp quite as wonderfully as RC - but here, she's angry, presenting case after case of pesticides-gone-bad, and exposing the dubious reasons for their use, despite the evidence. Towards the end, she looks at alternative biological controls. 👇

Jus finished my Arizona book for the #readingroadtrip! And finally moving on to California with The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo.

High Tide in Tucson was a great collection of Kingsolver's essays. Thought provoking and covering a wide range of topics from biology and sociology to parenting and writing. Really enjoyed it!
