“When former journalist Rain Winter was twelve years old, she narrowly escaped an abduction while walking to a friend‘s house. The abductor was eventually found and sent to prison, but years later was released. Then someone delivered real justice--and killed him in cold blood.”
I thought this was a great, quick paced thriller! The middle got a teeeeensy bit long, and the entire plot of “mother vs professional” was blah to me, but the rest was very good!
⭐️: 4/5
Lisa Unger is a new discovery for me and so far I'm liking her style! This psych thriller delves into the lasting effects of severe childhood trauma, a Dexter-ish vigilante, and several killer twists at the finale. I do feel like it showed some of its cards too early and dragged a tiny bit in the middle, but overall I found it to be an effective, atypical (and I mean that as a compliment) thriller.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
A very clever thriller, really enjoyed this one. Not read a Lisa Unger book I've not liked yet 😊
I was on board with most of this book. It was exciting and action packed but the ending was way too ridiculous and unsatisfying and I don‘t want to spoil it so that‘s all I will say. Besides that I think Rain‘s husband was a huge jerk even though I don‘t think he was supposed to be.
Still a few hours left to enter to win a copy of The Stranger Inside by the incomparable Lisa Unger! ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Enter until midnight PST TONIGHT, January 1, 2020! (U.S. addresses.)

Did a buddy read for this book since I'm curious about this author's books. Unfortunately, it left me feeling ambivalence. I loved the twisty plot but didn't like the characters or writing at all 😔

I thought I had this all figured out from the start - but I didn't, and the whole book pleasantly surprised me. The psychological stuff was spot on and you can tell that this author is committed to researching properly. This was my first Lisa Unger book and I'm happy to see she has a huge back-catalogue for me to dive into. Yay for books!
I am having a tough time today with the news and the reminder that woman‘s voices aren‘t listened to. So I am just going to bury myself in these two books plus my audiobook of The Testaments which is so, so good. Take care of yourselves today ❤️❤️
