A Hirshfield poem to help you on your Monday

merelybookish I just read this for the first recently. It's beautiful! 2y
vivastory @merelybookish I ?Hirshfield. I think she deserves to be better known, especially since Mary Oliver is "popular" & they seem to be similar in ways. 2y
merelybookish @vivastory Yes, I love any poem I read by her..plus she translated a lot (I think. I get her mixed up with Jane Kenyon sometimes. 🤔) She seems a bit less rooted in the natural world than Oliver. More domestic somehow. But, I agree there is a similar vibe. 2y

vivastory @merelybookish She translated a few Asian poets. I love the volume of Mirabai's work, co-translates by her and Bly. When I saw her in MN they took turns reading from the collection. It was memorable. 2y
vivastory @merelybookish Sorry, rereading your comment I see that you stated she translated a lot. I read it as a question. I didn't get much sleep last night. 😴 2y
merelybookish @vivastory No need to apologize. It was kind of a question since I wasn't sure if it was Hirshfield or Kenyon. 🙂 2y
