With her second Jacob‘s Ladder novel, Bear shifts her attention to the generation ship‘s older characters while the youngsters regroup. It took me a little while to sink into, partly because of the shift and partly because I remember liking it much less than DUST the first time through, but I soon found myself hard into it. CHILL is another weird story about a weird family that rules over a weird world. There‘s tons to unpack. I loved it.

Socks are hard to photograph and my ankles always look weirdly thick when I try, but here you go. My first crocus sock is done. #audioknitting

Poop; the lime curd oozed. I‘ll have to make sure people look at this side, where the ooze looks deliberate, instead of the other side, where the ooze looks decidedly less appetizing. #audiobaking

I started my CHILL reread during a round of #audiobaking. I‘ve now got apple crisp for tonight and lime curd to fill a zucchini cake I‘m serving on Wednesday.
