#audiobaking this morning.
I managed to do some #audiobaking! This cake is for my aunt and uncle‘s “Suck It, Grandma!” Christmas Eve party. Once a year or so, we all get together and eat stuff she refused to touch, like Chinese food and chocolate cake. I went with Nigella‘s chocolate fudge cake, done as a 3-layer instead of the 2-layer specified in the recipe, and I think I‘m gonna frost it with sour cream chocolate icing. I‘ll decide closer to the date.
I finished my OotP reread yesterday while I made some eggnog cupcakes! They‘re now in the freezer, waiting for Christmas Eve. So‘s a nice batch of eggnog buttercream. I‘ve never tried to freeze icing before, but I got a good deal on eggnog and I didn‘t want to have to buy more in a month just to make icing. Hopefully the internet wasn‘t lying about buttercream‘s freezeability. #audiobaking
It‘s pie time y‘all!

I listened to a big chunk of HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE while I baked one of the great mysteries of my culinary life: Nigella Lawson‘s cranberry cake. It‘s delicious, and it never looks anything like the picture because the cranberries always float up into the batter.
I think Canadian cranberries must be much lighter than the UK kind. The recipe says 6oz = 3/4 cup, but I‘ve found it‘s more like 2+ cups. #audiobaking
Made Smitten Kitchen‘s delicious pumpkin bread while listening to Rebecca Traister this morning. Feels appropriate after finishing The Power. #audiobaking
After @Cinfhen posted her picture of banana muffins I had to make some for breakfast. They turned out quite well and I'll have to make them again soon, the kids love them.

When life gives you mushy bananas 🍌 you make sugar free banana muffins 🧁#AudioBaking I‘m in awe of Sally Field. If you‘re looking for a book for #Booked2020 #SetInHollywood I highly recommend this one, especially on audio 🙌🏻
I made two cranberry macaroon loaves while I started my next audiobook. (The one in front is a mini; it was done before the top could change colour.) A friend three years younger than me told me HOW TO BE A BAWSE made her feel really old, but I‘m enjoying it so far. Singh‘s entertaining and supportive, even if she does clearly target her advice at teenagers and younger 20-somethings. #audiobaking
I did some housecleaning and baking this afternoon and evening while listening to this book. It is a much heavier middle grade story than I was expecting that deals with poverty, sibling responsibilities, domestic abuse, and responsible gun ownership. I appreciated the octopus facts and the analogy to her life. Zoey‘s perspective and her growth are important to share. 🐙
