There‘s a little bit of conflicting information regarding the above. The main picture is of the recovered Merlin engine from Spitfire P8331; inset is Wing Commander Piotr Laguna, who was flying the Spitfire when it was shot down on a mission over France on 27/06/41. Laguna was in 302 Squadron, and I‘ve found no mention of his transferring to 303, but the Spitfire is recorded as being part of 303 (cont in comments)

TheEllieMo Both 302 and 303 Squadrons were both Polish squadrons in the RAF, with 303 being the most famous, being the highest scoring Hurricane squadron in the Battle of Britain. Whichever squadron Laguna was flying with that day, he was a hero. 5y
