Pickpick

A fun, easily readable, informative book about societal beauty standards as they relate to body image. The author isn‘t saying don‘t wear makeup, or shave your legs, or go to the gym, but asking us what our motivation behind these activities are. Are we trying to figure cover up some perceived flaw or are we using these activities as self care or self expression?

I'm sensing a definite theme here. “Refining Felicity“ is decidedly NOT feminist, however. It's one of those Regency romances about a spirited young girl who needs a man to “tame“ her. A guilty pleasure. I was deeply inspired by “Inspired“ but liked “Lock Every Door“ the best! #augustreads

This was actually part of a tweet—the greatest tweet of all time, in my opinion—shortly before she died. #carriefisher #strongwomen #idols #quotsyaug19
