pickThe first time I read Maus I was a small child. Probably somewhat inappropriate reading material for a child, but at the time adults still figured all comic books were for children. I wanted to read it because it echoed some of the stories my grandparents would tell. I have read it many times since. It is still a powerful work, and that Spiegelman chose to revisit it with MetaMaus is tremendously generous. A must read for fans of comic books.
I love when comic artists sign with a drawing. Art Spiegelman was not only generous in doing so, but he was personable, kind, and funny. A real master of his field. #signedsundays
pickA confession...Maus changed my life. The idea that children of Holocaust survivors had their own stories to tell (+that it was okay to tell them) was profound for me. As a rhetoric major I was thrilled+delighted to circle back+hear Spiegelman's thoughts on the story structure and the telling of it.
