Transfer of Power
Transfer of Power | Vince Flynn
On a busy Washington morning, amid the shuffle of tourists and the brisk rush of government officials, the stately calm of the White House is shattered in a hail of gunfire. A group of terrorists has descended on the Executive Mansion, and gained access by means of a violent massacre that has left dozens of innocent bystanders murdered. The president is evacuated to his underground bunker - but not before almost one hundred hostages are taken. While the politicians and the military leaders argue over how to negotiate with the terrorists, one man is sent to break through the barrage of panicked responses and political agendas surrounding the crisis. Mitch Rapp, the CIA's top counterterrorism agent, makes his way into the White House and soon discovers that the president is not as safe as Washington's power elite had thought. And, in a race against time, he makes a chilling discovery that could determine the fate of America - and realizes that the terrorist attack is only the beginning of a master scheme to undermine an entire nation. Look out for the new Vince Flynn novel, The Survivor, published in autumn 2015!

⭐⭐⭐? (3.5/5)

Another good action packed novel by Vince Flynn.. it was fun, with a lot of tension (and a lot of characters and names!!!).
This was published in 1999 and I think it was some sort of inspiration for "Olympus Has Fallen" and "Whithe House Down"..

(The italian cover is awful!?)

After a group of terrorists take over the White House, they begin making demands. With the president incommunicado in his bunker, the Vice President takes command. Faced with some tough decisions, he begins to accede to the terrorists‘ demands. Mitch Rapp is tasked with infiltrating the White House and gathering intel. This is one of the best books in the series. If you haven‘t discovered Mitch Rapp, give yourself an early holiday present today!

CatLass007 Which is the first book in the series? 5y

Very entertaining- I can see a few recent movies that were based on it. Though I don‘t think any of them measure up to Mitch Rapp (not sure the cover reflects the book though) 😁

My dad has been pestering me to read this series for years & I finally relented. It's not the best writing, but it's not the worst either. It is probably longer than it needs to be. But for all of its flaws, I didn't want to put this down. Mitch Rapp is far from perfect, but if I ever needed heroic rescuing, he'd be at the top of my list of people to call. I'll intersperse this series with my other reading as a palate cleanser.
