What's the oldest (longest owned, not actual oldest) book you have had sitting on your tbr? Idk how long I've owned this one, but the copyright date is 1981 (I was 6, so I'm sure I've not had it quite that long). I recently read a book that I've had since high school (I graduated in 1992), though, and it got me thinking why I hold onto books for so long. What's your record of longest tbr?

ju.ca.no I think close to ten years😱 that‘s about when I startes buying more books than I could read😂 but I am trying to reduce my tbr and especially the ones I‘ve owned for such a long time! I just recently finished a book that I‘ve bought about 10 years ago as well, maybe even longer, so at least a bit of progress is visible😂 6y

Traci1 @ju.ca.no I think most of mine probably hit around 10 years too. I have a few that are older, but I think I need to start either reading them or letting them go. It makes no sense to hold onto a book for 20+ years and still be no closer to reading it. 6y
ju.ca.no @Traci1 true! I really hope I‘ll reach my goal of reducing my TBR pile and tackle the old books as well🙈🙈 6y

I decided to go back in time and re-read Cussler's Dirk Pitt books. This one has a copyright date of 1981 but is set in "the future" year of 1989. I giggled at things everyone has ( ie. holographic telephones) and mourned some of the things we no longer have -er, I guess that would be "had" ( Pan Am flights, lax airport and government building security).
A modern reader has to overlook chauvinism, but it still is a fun action/adventure book.
