Opal and her AI Sybil are quite the team as they investigate. Programmed to keep her well-being in mind, Sybil is the constant reminder to do the safe thing. However, as readers will soon find out, through the hilarious back and forth dialogue between the two, Opal doesn‘t always listen to the safe choice. #urbanfantasy

My first read of 2022 was a lot of fun. It‘s an urban fantasy with a female lead. Read my full review here: https://debbybrauer.org/#minimum-wage-magic

Set in 2115 Detroit, this book is an odd mix up of magic and Sci-Fi, there are lots of spells as well as family drama and suspense. It reminded me a lot of Warcross and Storage Hunters. The plot was super mysterious, I had no clue what was going to happen and I enjoyed the mystery, plus with a few plot twists and some family drama, it was intriguing.
There was a tiny hint of romance which was a nice change. I will definitely be reading the rest!

A fun finale to this trilogy. Opal must work with her dragon father in order to save gods and her friend from a new evil.

In a magic drenched Detroit, Opal is a Cleaner of abandoned rentals, desperate to pay off a debt. Her most recent job maybe more danger than she can handle.

I loved the combo of magic and futuristic tech. Detroit was an amazing backdrop. Opal was an interesting MC. And there was no instalove, although there was attraction between our 2 MCs.

I would‘ve liked seeing more of Opal‘s Korean heritage. And more ladies. But the narrator? A+! 🌕🌕🌕🌕🌑

1. A yoga mat and card deck. It started a lifelong practice (with some gaps here and there) that has helped me, both mentally and physically, throughout my life.
2. My father and his many boxes of sci-fi books.
