Kiss the Dead
Kiss the Dead | Laurell K. Hamilton
3 posts | 29 read | 11 to read
I knew without doubt that if any more of the vampires tried to attack us I'd kill them, too, regardless of apparent age, race, sex, or religious affiliations. I was an equal-opportunity executioner; I killed everybody. My name is Anita Blake and I am a vampire hunter and necromancer, as well as a US Marshal. So when a fifteen-year-old girl is abducted by vampires, it's up to me to find her. And when I do, I'm faced with something I've never seen before: a terrifyingly ordinary group of people - kids, grandparents, soccer moms - all recently turned and willing to die to avoid serving their vampire master. And where there's one martyr, I know there will be more... But even vampires have monsters that they're afraid of. And I'm one of them...

Mehso-so

Finally finished! It's taking longer than usual to finish up her books. They seem to be getting a little more dull.

BarbaraTheBibliophage I loved the first ten or so, but wish she would have quit this series while she was at her prime! 7y
Adam_Z Yeah, the first 10 or so were good. I stuck it out through something like 18 or 19 and finally threw in the towel - I thought it got to the point where each book was written using the same outline, LOL. 7y
VoraciousReader I got really disappointed with Anita about 7-8 books in because she kept doing such stupid things that weren't like her, & getting so caught up in sex to the point she was always letting it compromise her thinking. Sad, because I really liked her spunk & independence. 7y

tpixie @BarbaraTheBibliophage @Adam_Z @VoraciousReader that's exactly how I felt about Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum books. 7y
flip58 I absolutely loved this series into Narcississ in Chains. I wanted my money back for that book 7y
Christyco125 I loved the series also. I still re-read the first 7. I love Anita and choose not to acknowledge the utter defilement of her character in the later books. 7y
