After months of rain, a city is sinking under the floods. The rich live much as usual, but the poor are cut off, while the fanatical 'Last Days' religious sect is recruiting thousands. When the rain suddenly stops, a spectacular gala takes place to which the swarming characters of this book flock.

You would think that I could read but we can't stay away from watching on tv what's happening around us. It just keeps raining, we are in Sugar Land just outside of Houston. What you are seeing is bad, the people driving should just be waiting it out. In front of the city, those should be roads.

Christy2318 I haven't read at all today. Too busy anxiety watching media coverage and FB stalking all my Houston people. 7y

Anxious time here in Houston. I'm very fortunate that my streets are not currently flooded and my daughters are currently safe in their houses, but seeing what so many people are going through just hurts my heart. Thank you all so much for all the thought and prayers and notes wishing us well. Keep praying for Houston!

This is our street at 4am, a few minutes before the fire department had us evacuate last night... Exciting night! The creek behind our house flooded and the whole street got evacuated. Fortunately, we are back in our home this morning and there wasn't any damage. By some miracle, we don't even have water in the basement! Some of our neighbors were not so lucky

DebinHawaii Wow! That's pretty scary. 😱 So glad you are OK and didn't have any damage! 8y
