Issa Rae mentioned this book in her MasterClass so I picked it up. There are many outdated references in it but the screenwriting content was good and I‘d recommend it for anyone thinking about writing a screenplay. I also did an online course that‘s textbook was this book. The teacher elaborated and had more recent references and advice. Blake gives you a lot of tips on how to improve your screenplay which I think are very helpful.

I‘m very sad today, as I found out that the local Bodega kitten, Goldie, has gone missing 😢 She‘s the sweetest little girl, and treasured by everyone in my neighborhood. I have known her since this summer, when she was just a tiny thing. I would always pick her up and give her a cuddle whenever I shopped. Could use some good vibes to help her find her way home 😢♥️

Beatlefan129 Poor kit, hope she finds her way back soon!❤️🐈 6y

Snyder has a lot of solid advice for you if your goal is to sell a script in Hollywood, but the book felt a bit bogged down with stories about himself and his “illustrious” career. I learned a lot, but he‘s a bit too “white guy trapped in classical Hollywood” for my taste.

The thing that most dates this book is Snyder repeatedly mentioning the price of going to see a movie as $10.
