I had never heard of the Company series until I saw it on a list of time travel novels. Mendoza is saved from the Spanish Inquisition, turned into an immortal and sent on her first mission in medieval England. I got vibes of The rise and fall of DODO and St. Mary's, only less comical, but the book is older. Mendoza is immortal, but only 19, and has a lot to learn. Love, for example. I'm looking forward to book 2.

Time travel. 16th century England. Immortal cyborg operatives. Loved the whole concept. The historical setting felt very authentic and I enjoyed Mendoza's voice, a good balance between immortal cyborg and uncertain adolescent. This was definitely a good read.

RealLifeReading One of my all-time favorite series! 8y
