Bethany Griffin continues the journey of Araby Worth in Dance of the Red Deaththe sequel to her teen novel Masque of the Red Death. Lauren DeStefano, author of the New York Times bestselling Chemical Gardens trilogy, called Masque of the Red Death "luscious, sultry, and lingeringly tragic."In Dance of the Red Death, Araby's world is in shamblesbetrayal, death, disease, and evil forces surround her. She has no one to trust. But she will fight for herself, for the people she loves, and for her city. Her revenge will take place at the menacing masked ball. It could destroy her and everyone she loves . . . or it could turn her into a hero. With a nod to Edgar Allan Poe, Bethany Griffin concludes her tragic and mysterious Red Death saga about a heroine that young adult readers will never forget.

Pickpick

Despite the negative reviews for this sequel, I actually really enjoyed it. The book still had the same eerie atmosphere, and the continuation of the swoon worthy love triangle I actually liked. (I'm glad Araby picked who she did) I also enjoyed the plot, leading after the first one, I felt like this was a nice ending to a good duology. The writing wasn't anything super, however the pace and mix of action and revelation was suitable, I liked it.

Another #bookoutlethaul arrived today. I finally snagged a copy of Royal We for my #buddyread with @ferskner !

ferskner Yayyyyy! 6y
Leigh0906 I remember hearing that Lauren Graham and Mae Whitman got the rights to write a script to potentially turn The Royal We into a movie. I‘m so there for that if it ever happens! (edited) 6y
Librarybelle @Leigh0906 That is so cool! 6y

Librarybelle @ferskner We need to decide how to do the buddy read. I‘m so excited! 6y
ferskner Yes! I'm assuming this will be a site-wide thing? 6y
Librarybelle @ferskner I think that‘s a good plan! I have some time tomorrow - I could look at the break down of chapters to see what would be good sections for reading. 6y
