I am posting one book per day from my to-be-read collection. No description and providing no reason for wanting to read it. Some will be old, some will be new - don't judge me, I have a lot of books.

● UNLIKELY PENPALS ● A JAPANESE AMERICAN BOY -ALEX MAKI ● A FRENCH JEWISH GIRL --CHARLIE LEVY ● WWII BACKDROP -LOTS OF WAR SCENES
● INTERNMENT CAMP FOR JAPANESE AMERICANS ● JEWISH CONCENTRATION CAMPS
If you like stories based on then you should really read/listen to this...it gave me some Between Shades of Gray vibes...although it didn't quite deliver the feels that BSOG did, it really shined from an educational point of view.
“You be safe. You come home alive.” Her eyes well up. “I will, Mother.” She smiles, sadly. “All those camouflage nets I made at the factory. I hope one of them finds its way to you. I hope it hangs over you. Because then it will feel like I‘m with you. That it‘s my hand over you, protecting you somehow.”
I took a pause from this book because the subject matter & treatment of the Japanese Internment & Holocaust camp prisoners hurt my heart.
I would really like to finish reading, This Light Between Us right now but this little girl keeps jumping from my lap to my husband and yet, she, unlike her brother isn‘t messaging us that she wants to go out or even play. We tried everything. I tried reading to her. Nope not that either. Maybe we just make a good Agility challenge? 🤪🤔 #nonbookishdog #wouldratherbereading #funstuffathomenot
“Never judge a book by its cover. This is what they tell themselves. But once inside, their worst fears are confirmed. The book is worse than the cover. The walls are just wood sheeting, splintery and thin. No paint or insulation or plaster covers them. The floor is composed of wood planks with large knotholes slapped together. No linoleum covering. Placed around the room are seven army cots, metal skeletons. None with a mattress or a pillow.”
“But this makes me wonder about something. Do you ever worry if we did meet in person, we might find that we do not like each other? Maybe we only like—how to say in English—idéals of each other? Maybe in real life we are quite different? Oh, my thoughts get so deep and negative when I am all alone! Does this happen a lot to you, my lonely turtle boy? Do you find yourself thinking strange, depressing thoughts? Your fellow lonely turtle, Charlie”
