This was an interesting book. Written by the film's director after the movie failed at the box office, but before it acquired cult status, it expands on the screenplay with material that didn't make the final cut and goes deeper into the mind of the protagonist (depicting him as being as much of a religious zealot as the pagans he is investigating). Even knowing the infamous ending, the book kept my interest. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I started this novelization of the cult horror classic while I was in Canada last week and experiencing some actual autumn weather, and so far it's pretty good.

I saw the movie first as a teenager and then read the book. Wild! is one word to describe this ritualistic community. #shadesofblue #somethingforsept #septphotochallenge

RIP Robin Hardy, director of The Wicker Man, who, in creating such a masterwork, nurtured and inspired many weirdos to explore folklore, myths, and the horrific frisson that exists when they collide in the present. He, along with Arthur Machen and others, is a towering figure in this genre. RIP.
