What I Like About You
What I Like About You | Marisa Kanter
Can a love triangle have only two people in it? Online, it can…but in the real world, its more complicated. In this debut novel that’s perfect for fans of Jenny Han and Morgan Matson, Marisa Kanter hilariously and poignantly explores what happens when internet friends turn into IRL crushes. Is it still a love triangle if there are only two people in it? There are a million things that Halle Levitt likes about her online best friend, Nash. He’s an incredibly talented graphic novelist. He loves books almost as much as she does. And she never has to deal with the awkwardness of seeing him in real life. They can talk about anything… Except who she really is. Because online, Halle isn’t Halle—she’s Kels, the enigmatically cool creator of One True Pastry, a YA book blog that pairs epic custom cupcakes with covers and reviews. Kels has everything Halle doesn’t: friends, a growing platform, tons of confidence, and Nash. That is, until Halle arrives to spend senior year in Gramps’s small town and finds herself face-to-face with real, human, not-behind-a-screen Nash. Nash, who is somehow everywhere she goes—in her classes, at the bakery, even at synagogue. Nash who has no idea she’s actually Kels. If Halle tells him who she is, it will ruin the non-awkward magic of their digital friendship. Not telling him though, means it can never be anything more. Because while she starts to fall for Nash as Halle…he’s in love with Kels.

Why I choose What I like about you is because I wanted to find out how Halie goes about telling Nash that she is Kels her online persona who has been friends with Nash for years. I Also wanted to see how Nash would take it. Haile goes through inner turmoil deciding if she should tell him or not and it is interesting on how she goes about it.

A cute and very bookish YA romance. Halle and Nash are friends online, where they are popular in YA book world and go by pen names. But when Halle - Kels online - moves for her senior year of high school and suddenly meets Nash IRL, she can‘t bring herself to tell him she is Kels. The deceit stretched on A LOT longer than I thought, but I enjoyed the read.

Super cute ya modern romance. The whole issue would have been solved with one conversation at literally any point in the story. A case of online friends meeting in person. But ya is like that sometimes.

Growing up as an observant Jew, the number of characters that I related to on a religious level were small. Seeing the word Shabbat in a book warms my heart and would‘ve been great for the teenage version of me to see

I'm a little book hungover right now. Because this book is so adorable I could not stop reading it last night. And then the sun came up. Literally.

Halle is a YA teen book blogger, writing as Kels. When she moves in with her grandpa, the first person she stumbles upon is her internet BFF. But she's afraid to tell him who she is. Chaos ensues.

I received an #ARC via #goodreads. Publication date says April 2020.

Just, y‘all need to read this. If you like books and you like reading about books and it feels like books are your entire life then this is totally the book for you. I‘m too into my feels to say anymore, but just read it. I say it a little more eloquently on Goodreads so check it out: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/3194003235

Onto this ARC and oh boy is it already appealing to my book lover soul one chapter in. The MC creates cupcakes that represent YA books in the same design as the book covers??? She also talks about posting and critiquing Goodreads reviews??? Could this be any more relevant to my own life?? You had me at....all of it.
