pickA big, sprawling domestic murder story. Exactly what you want if this is the kind of story you‘re looking for. It‘s full of secrets, and a super messy family dynamic, with a healthy dose of rich people drama. A great holiday read for me.
pickJo Spain‘s standalone crime thriller is a tightly plotted affair that expertly shifts the action between the sibling narrators as they move from the night of the murder to the events of 10 years earlier. The relationship between the siblings is convincing and the slow reveal of Frazer‘s cruelties also works well but the resolution in the final quarter relies on a number of contrivances and left me wondering if one character deserved their fate.
pickShe's becoming a bit of a favourite
Next up . . . Been in a bit of a slump so hope this will be a page turner.
so-soTo be perfectly honest this just didn‘t grab my attention. The story plodded along, switching back and forth from Before and After. The main characters were rather self-absorbed, and quite frankly, by the time I got to the end I really didnt care who had killed their father.
pickAdam returns to his family in Ireland 10 years after he disappeared and shortly afterwards his father is killed falling off a yacht. What happened to Adam, and how did his father die?
The book features the 6 children, all of whom having a reason to kill their father, and has lots of twists as turns as the stories are revealed. To be honest, none of the characters were all that likeable, but the story was unput-downable.
