Mehso-so

Inspector Chen is assigned to look into the contacts of Xing Xing, a corrupt official who has fled with his ill-gotten gains to the United States in an attempt to claim political asylum.

Although I enjoyed the previous books in this series, I didn't really get on with this one and often found myself making excuses not to pick it up. I don't think I will be continuing with the series.

Pickpick

The joy of this series about insp Chen of the Chinese police is the immersion into the culture including food, poetry, and politics. The fourth book finds chen investigating high ranking corruption and a villain who has fled to the USA requiring him to visit under the guise of head of a literary delegation. Not necessarily the best crime novel but i love this world building and being transported to communist china.
