Aquamarine | Carol Anshaw, Merrill Maguire Skaggs
4 posts | 5 read | 1 to read
Olympic swimmer Jesse Austin is seduced and consequently edged out for a gold medal by her Australian rival. From there, Anshaw intricately traces three possible paths for Jesse, spinning exhilarating variations on the themes of lost love and parallel lives unlived. Dorothy Allison, author of Bastard Out of Carolina, writes, "I found myself wishing I could buy a dozen copies and start a discussion group, just so I'd be able to debate all the questions this astonishing novel provokes." A Reader's Guide is available.

Mehso-so

The back cover spoils the story progression quite horribly - glad I managed not to be spoiled.

No real flaws, just a bit draggy. It's short.

Pickpick

This is my #Booked2018 #OlympicSport read - and also a #MtTBR as it‘s been on my shelves since 2010! I wish I remembered how this one came to my attention- but I really don‘t... and while I loved elements of it - the end was too abrupt for me!

Cinfhen Wow!!! You're on a roll🎲congrats on another prompt completed🎉 7y

Panpan

I liked the alternate universe aspect of this book but it was pretty slow. Unrewarding ending.
