Randomly came across this book on #Hoopla. It was easily a one-sitting read. Cute even tho the target audience is probably less than half my age. 🙈

I randomly stumbled across this book on cloudLibrary. Had never heard of the Buy Nothing community but it‘s right up my alley. Would recommend this to anyone into eco friendly alternatives, diy, and anti capitalism. ✌🏽 Lots of cool diy recipes and ideas for things to make at home. Will refer back to it in the future.

Unpopular opinion: I didn‘t think this book was as stellar as most people did. I agree with 99% of what the author was saying but 1., it felt too cheesy-inspirational for my tastes and 2., a lot of the content was aimed at parents which I am not, 3., I am proud to say I‘m pretty dammed untamed myself already and have come to some of these realizations on my own. Don‘t get me wrong, it was good and there were plenty of nuggets of wisdom.

Hey y‘all. After being home since mid-March I got a temporary gig in Colorado. Looking for book recommendations set in Colorado or with mountainy vibes. I already searched #colorado on here and did a cursory Google.

Like others have said, there are lots of characters to keep up with and remember how they‘re related. Overall it was an ok read. I couldn‘t bail bc it‘s Judy Blume.

I always set my #goodreads goal low to not feel stressed if I decide to read a longer book. I try to read at least a book per week but I often read more than that with audiobooks and comics. I reset my goal to 81—that‘s a book per week for the rest of 2020 plus what I‘ve already read.

My 4th Allende book this year. 😅

I must admit, it wasn‘t my favorite but it was a rewarding read overall. All the political stuff and history was over my head. I probably rushed through it too fast tho.

About the revelation in the last chapter, I saw it coming. I think everyone did except the characters. 😆

A recent high school grad who hikes the AT sobo and solo. Overall it was fun and made me long for the day I get to be on the AT myself. Some aspects of trail life felt off. No mention of trail names, hitching, zero days. And once the two main characters SELL fruit to other hikers which would never happen. 😅 Got annoyed at the love interest for always shaming McKenna for coming from a well-off family.

I‘m a huge podcast junkie so I was intrigued when I heard about this book which is (partly) written as a podcast. I listened to the audiobook which made for an immersive experience. It really felt like I was listening to an NPR/Serial-esque investigative podcast. I finished it in less than two days. But like others have said, the ending was disappointing/frustrating. And I have questions.

McKenna knew that for the rest of her life, rain on a tent flap would be the sound of falling in love...The person she became inside that shadow-filled tent was somebody that nobody else on earth—nobody but Sam—had ever seen.

Finishing the last 50 pages tonight. Virtual #bookclub meeting tomorrow. I was worried about committing to such a huge book, but it has kept my interest the whole time. The painting is like the tell-tale heart and the precious.

thevagabondlawyer I loved this book. I read it last and it's now part of my to be reread list. Enjoy. What's your virtual book club? I am also finding one. 4y
hike.read.repeat @thevagabondlawyer I‘m in the Meg & Dia book club. They‘re a band who started a book club during quarantine. I‘m also in Nerdette podcast‘s book club. Their picks have been great! 4y
thevagabondlawyer @hike.read.repeat oh cool, do they discuss the book thru videoconferencing? Or they have like a Facebook group? 4y
hike.read.repeat @thevagabondlawyer M&D do Instagram live meetings once a week and an ongoing Slack channel. Nerdette has a Goodreads group then does a podcast episode a couple times a month. Sometimes with the author. 🙂 4y

Another Meg & Dia book club pick. I wasn‘t stoked about reading this one but I did it anyway bc I was excited about the book club. When David Sedaris is on This American Life, I tend to skip his parts. His humor is just not my cup of tea. There are some funny observations and points of view tho and I found myself laughing at parts. It was easier to get through the audiobook version.

Anyone else catching up on tv shows? I‘ve been watching Jane The Virgin. The premise is far-fetched but beyond that, it‘s a heartfelt woman-driven show that pays homage to telenovelas.

I reread this bc the author has a new book coming out soon and I was trying to hype myself up.

The book starts off with the onset of “the Georgia Flu” which incubates within 4 hours and kills most within 48 hours. 99% of the population dies. I enjoyed it the first time I listened to it but it was quite triggering this time around. Especially since I listened in the middle of 72 hours of 🚎✈️🚕 travel getting home to Texas from New Zealand. 😅

I first listened to this audiobook in 2017. I remember thoroughly enjoying it so I listened again. It‘s a multifaceted story within a story type book. A teen girl from Japan, a woman on an island off Canada‘s pacific coast, and the Japanese girl‘s 104 year old great grandmother who is a nun are some of the characters. #hoopla #reread
