I used to be subscribed to the physical version of this comic and read up to maybe issue 18. Now that the series is complete, I‘m starting over. Love the story and the art! I can‘t help but compare it to #StrangerThings. It‘s set in the 80s (well, partially) and it‘s about a group of friends who deal with supernatural things. #hoopla

I listened to the audiobook and flipped along in the ebook for the illustrations. So many interesting tidbits. Information overload! I need to buy a physical copy for the pretty illustrations and to keep in my cocktail cabinet. Lots of recipes to try. #rbdigital

Over the past year I listened ALL 600+ episodes of the Savage Lovecast. I was going through withdrawals so I was happy to find one of Dan‘s books on #hoopla. He‘s such a smart and funny guy and it was interesting to get a peek into his marriage and family life.

This is my third book from this author. She‘s an excellent storyteller and artist. Although the subject matter is quite depressing, it‘s a worthwhile read. #hoopla

Can anyone recommend similar graphic novels?

megnews I really like her. Hard to find something comparable. Maybe Roz Chast or Jennifer Hayden. 6d

This book is thorough! A linguistic and cultural comparison of the differences between American and British English. It made me self conscious about coming off as rude when interacting with Kiwis tho. I learned that the way Americans ask for things in restaurants can come off as rude to others. 😩 #hoopla

I was reluctant to read yet another book on the PCT after having already read two, plus several daily journal hiker blogs. But this book was a fast, enjoyable, inspiring, and relatable read.

Like Anish, I always considered myself more of a bookworm than an athlete. I was never into sports or coordinated. But I find myself drawn to the outdoors and REALLY long hikes and the desire to pursue long trails has taken over my life for the most part.

hike.read.repeat And I‘d like to add that long distance hiking, while it seems extreme, can be pursued by people of almost any age, fitness level, and outdoor experience. If you‘re interested but don‘t know where to start, just get out there. You figure it out and get into shape along the way. 👍🏽 1mo

My bf and I read The Hobbit in July followed by the Fellowship in August, TT in September, and just finished RotK for October.

We read in anticipation of our trip to NZ and we finished just in time bc we leave tomorrow! ✈️

Finishing this series feels like saying goodbye to friends. 💔 But it also feels like an accomplishment to be done.

We plan to watch the three main films (extended editions) on our flights. 😬😆

Anish set the PCT self-supported FKT in 2013 and still holds the record over six years later!

She finished in 60 days. Most hikers take 4-5 (sometimes 6) months. It took me 161 days. 🙈

I‘m trying to finish this book before tomorrow evening and I feel like I‘m in race against time, just like Anish. 😆

1. 500 books read since joining Goodreads several years ago
2. 600 followers on Litsy

In just three days I leave to start my third long distance hike. I haven‘t trained nearly half as much as I wanted to. And I‘m recovering from a bouldering injury that happened a month ago which at its worst made walking and normal movements v painful.

Even tho I‘m not nearly as fast and experienced as her, it‘s comforting to read that Anish had similar issues/fears going into her PCT FKT attempt.

This was my first audiobook to listen to on #RBdigital which is provided by my public library. Has anyone else used it?

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Would recommend to the morbidly curious.

I also very much agree with Doughty‘s thesis that we‘re too distant from death, dead bodies, and even sick and elderly people.

SamAnne I really enjoyed this book. Perhaps one of the best I've read on death and dying. 1mo

I‘ve read almost all of Mary Roach‘s books now. This one wasn‘t my fav. I continued reading it more for Mary‘s callbacks and one-liners than for the content. Do you believe in an afterlife? If so, do you believe it‘s something that science can prove or disprove? 💀👻

ljuliel Yes I believe in ghosts, spirits , whatever you want to call them. I‘m not sure if they‘ll ever figure out a way to prove it. There are so many tv shows and just ordinary people who take pictures or record sounds, etc but there‘s always someone out there who disproves them all. 1mo
