Hold On, But Don't Hold Still
Hold On, But Don't Hold Still: Hope and Humor from My Seriously Flawed Life | Kristina Kuzmic
7 posts | 4 read | 1 to read
Delivering inspiration and "parenting comedy at its finest,"* here is one woman's story of ditching her fairytale dreams and falling in love with her unpredictable, chaotic, imperfect life Kristina Kuzmic has made herself a household name, speaking directly to mothers from the trenches of parenthood via her viral videos and social media presence. She is now bringing her message of self-acceptance, resilience, and joy to book readers. With a refreshingly unpretentious, funny, and galvanizing voice, Kuzmic goes behind the scenes to reveal how she went from broke and defeated to unshakably grounded and brimming with thankfulness. Illuminating the hard-won wisdom from a life always spent one step behind--whether it was as a high school student new to America, a suddenly single mother to two kids, remarried and juggling two teens and a toddler, or the unexpected recipient of Oprah's attention and investment--Hold On, But Don't Hold Still is the book every mother needs to reassure her that she's not only fine just as she is, but that she already has more tools and support than she can possibly imagine. Sparkling with wit, this heartfelt memoir is like a long coffee date with a best friend, or the eleventh-hour text message that gives you just the boost you need to get through the night. *The Huffington Post

Funny, relatable, encouraging, touching, and, at times, profoundly heartbreaking, Hold On, But Don‘t Hold Still is an intimate confession of the real and raw aspects of Kristina Kuzmič‘s life as a woman, single parent, and mother.

Under its cover, this book is gloriously pink!

Kristina writes as she speaks. The style is snappy and amusing. If you like her videos (and I do!) you‘ll really enjoy this.

My favourite line was a translation of a saying from her native Croatia:

“Be the blacksmith of your own joy.”

My loan expired but I didn't want to take it out for a few more pages. Overall an enjoyable book with lots of parenting advice, often repetitive at times. I was extremely interested in her childhood in Croatia and following her divorce. If you're a social media follower, you're going to get a lot of similar stories.

?? This is spectacular and absolutely something I've been working on over the years. I tell my kids that not everything that pops into your head needs to fall out of your mouth and it's a hard lesson to learn after years of pretending my "bluntness" wasn't straight up rudeness! Social media culture gives us the privilege of spouting off any time we see fit but there's a time and a place and only certain people I can address!

I need Philip to teach my husband this very simple trick... especially in the midst of quarantine where I've been switched on for 10 months with no end in sight...

Texreader Those days were so hard and such a reprieve would have been nice. The good news: it gets easier; the bad news: it means the kids are growing up (as I‘m about to embark on losing my first child to college). 3y
IamIamIam @Texreader Aww!! Perspective is key!!! ❤❤❤ Good luck to you both!! 3y

This is a lovely, inspirational, funny yet 'real' book.
Kristina is a superstar and I'm so glad things seem to be going well for her and her family.
