So Much It Hurts | Monique Polak

Iris is an aspiring actress, so when Mick, a well-known visiting Aussie director, takes an interest in her, she's flattered. He's fourteen years older, attractive, smart, charming and sexy, in other words, nothing like her hapless ex-boyfriend, Tommy. But when Iris and Mick start a secret relationship, she soon witnesses Mick's darker side, and his temper frightens her. Before long, she becomes the target of his rage, but she makes endless excuses for him. Isolated and often in pain, Iris struggles to continue going to school, where she is preparing for her role as Ophelia. When her family and friends begin to realize that something is terribly wrong, Iris defends her man, but she also takes the first tentative steps toward self-preservation.

This book really shows how much having a partner can take you away from people you care about. In the story Iris and Mick are in a relationship and Mick tends to get mad at Iris a lot but she pushes it to the side because she thinks he still cares for her. This book is like a mysterious love novel and I really enjoy it because you never know what is gonna happen next in the book. This is being written in third person perspective.

Alyssa.blasetti-ford It‘s written so well that you will always want to read more. It‘s not the type of book that you can just stop reading, once you start you will want to keep reading because of the new things that will happen. Iris distances herself from her mom and friends and only focuses on Mick and how there relationship is going. She never really notices that she‘s not as close as she was with her mother anymore. Or how she doesn‘t hangout with her friends. 4y
Alyssa.blasetti-ford So yes this is a book I recommend because I‘m not much of a reader and I‘ve been hooked to finish this book as soon as I can. 4y
MissYaremcio Great review Alyssa! I would have liked to see how the POV is established but great work! 4y

So much it hurts is a book about how iris falls in love with her theatre teacher mick. They get into a relationship but doesn‘t want anyone to know what it it so they keep it private. Mick gets upset with iris and she always assumes that it‘s her fault and then apologizes for it. Mick never shows how much he loves her and shes not noticing it. I recommend reading this book because it really shows how you shouldn‘t be treated like in a relationship

Alyssa.blasetti-ford If you like these kind of books then this one will be perfect for you because it‘s very intense but kinda romantic at the same time. There relationship isn‘t a perfect relationship but iris doesn‘t care because she is in love with mick. Mick doesn‘t seem to be as in love with iris as she is with him but she doesn‘t care because she just wants to stay with him. He seems to believe in her in everything she does but also doesn‘t treat her nicely. 4y
MissYaremcio Great review Alyssa! I was unsure from your review what the motif was but overall well done. 4/6 4y
