GIER - Wie weit würdest du gehen?
GIER - Wie weit würdest du gehen?: Roman - Der neue Bestseller vom Blackout-Autor | Marc Elsberg
11 posts | 1 read

I‘m sorry to maybe annoy you, especially because this might, if at all, only be interesting for my German-speaking followers. But it was such a coincidence that I felt the strong need to share it here.

I found an audio-recording of a lecture in the “Deutschlandfunkâ€-app about justice in the law of nations. This seems to fit picture perfect to the topic of Marc Elsberg‘s “Gierâ€.

I was struck, but I love such happenstances. ðŸ˜

✅ Finish my current audiobook (“Gier†by Marc Eisberg)

Still processing:

• Finish Blake Crouch‘s “Dark Matterâ€

• Get between 100 and 150 pages read in

a) the 2nd “Pink-Rabbitâ€-book by Judith
Kerr
or

b) “NSA†by Andreas Eschbach, which
consists of 796 pages in total

Makes roughly 32 hours and 55 minutes.

Pickpick

I hardly could put this downâ€¼ï¸ It was a great audiobook but it‘s sad that I can‘t read the credits because I bet therein Elsberg tells more about the backgrounds of his story.
To me, it sounds sensible that solidarity is better for a society than single combat and I highly enjoyed the explanation of science and maths behind that and behind decision-making of a group/of individuals.

At first, the big cast of characters is dizzling but that passes.

Short before the end. Listened further while having a late dinner 🽠and now I find myself in a typical #BooknerdProblem: Continue and finish this one or return to Blake Crouch‘s “Dark Matter†that I today already have about 50 pages on the recordâ“🤔 #24b4Extend

Another busy day to tick off. ✔ï¸
But this one at least didn‘t feel as strenuous as many work days of the past week did. I‘m really satisfied with what I got done today. (Including: getting 2 e-books downloaded without major fuss. 😃)

That‘s why I decided to treat myself with a nice hot, creamy chicory coffee this evening while continuing my current audiobook.

Yeah, adult life can be a pain in the [you-know-where] – but: Life‘s good‼ï¸ðŸ˜

I‘ll start #24b4Extend with yesterday‘s #24b4Monday-finishing-time of let‘s say 22-hours-something.
My goals … 🤔

• Finish my current audiobook (“Gier†by Marc Eisberg)

• Finish the tagged one (Blake Crouch‘s “Dark Matterâ€)

• Get between 100 and 150 pages read in

a) the 2nd “Pink-Rabbitâ€-book by Judith
Kerr
or

b) “NSA†by Andreas Eschbach, which
consists of 796 pages in total

Andrew65 I must read the second Pink Rabbit book. Like your goals. 4y

It‘s early Monday here – and even though the display suggests it, I am convinced that this is close but still not quite true because today I somewhere mucked the timer up. Since I didn‘t notice when I have no idea how much to subtract. But as I said it‘s close. Something around 22,5 and 23,5 might be realistic. 🤷ðŸ½â€â™€ï¸

Thanks for all the support. It was quite asking but also fun. #24b4Monday

1ï¸âƒ£ Uhem, well, “new†surely not in terms of “current†or “brand new†but in terms of “last added to my stackâ€: “Metro 2035†by Dmitri Gluchowski.

2ï¸âƒ£ “Neverending Storyâ€, “Momoâ€

3ï¸âƒ£ Unpopular but I bailed on the series after the 4th book. I might give the audiobooks a try if I get a chance to borrow them, but then, sorry, not sorry, in German language, you knowâ“😉

BookmarkTavern I finished all of them, but I really didn‘t like past five, so I completely understand stopping. If you like audiobooks, I recommend giving at least the first one a try. I‘m partial to Dale, but Fry also does an excellent job. â¤ï¸ 4y

Well, my poppyseed-tuna-pasta isn‘t looking as nice as the one from the online cookbook – but it was delicious. 😋 A nice idea, worth to be kept in mind.

Meanwhile a character from the book tries to explain stochastics to me. 🧮 How convenient that the character he‘s explaining it to also is a dead loss when it comes to mathematics.

Littens, I‘m sure, if I understood science and mathematics, I‘d have the powers to rule the world. 👑 #24b4Monday

I hate when I lag behind my own plans. 😢

I so much wanted to continue with “Dark Matter†but guess what I couldn‘t do because I decided to sleep in and to have an opulent brunchâ“
Afterwards, there was some paperwork to do (as always 🙄) and now I am hungry again.

So I looked for something nice with tuna and will now be audiocooking continuing that Elsberg book about greed. #24b4Monday

Another accidental find at my online library that I put on hold and that then dropped into my account much faster than I expected. I started it during brunch and already am hooked. Elsberg does so well in interweaving current events, politics and threats with fiction. His plots are always so close to reality that it‘s breathtakingâ€¼ï¸ #24b4Monday

How have my German fellow Littens survived last night‘s switch to daylight saving timeâ“
