Front Row at the Trump Show
Front Row at the Trump Show | Jonathan Karl
3 posts | 5 read | 3 to read
An account like no other from the White House reporter who has known President Trump for more than 25 years. We have never seen a president like this...norm-breaking, rule-busting, dangerously reckless to some and an overdue force for change to others. One thing is clear: We are witnessing the reshaping of the presidency. Jonathan Karl brings us into the White House in a powerful book unlike any other on the Trump administration. Hes known and covered Donald Trump longer than any other White House reporter. With extraordinary access to Trump during the campaign and at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Karl delivers essential new reporting and surprising insights. These are the behind-the-scenes moments that define Trumps presidency--an extraordinary look at the president, the person, and those closest to him. This is the real story of Trumps unlikely rise; of the struggles and battles of those who work in the administration and those who report on it; of the plots and schemes of a senior staff enduring stunning and unprecedented unpredictability. Karl takes us from a TV set turned campaign office to the strange quiet of Trumps White House on Inauguration Day to a high-powered reelection campaign set to change the countrys course. He shows us an administration rewriting the role of the president on the fly and a press corps that has never been more vital. Above all, this book is only possible because of the surprisingly open relationship Donald Trump has had with Jonathan Karl, a reporter he has praised, fought, and branded an enemy of the people. This is Front Row at the Trump Show.

Jonathan Karl offers insights into the current White House. And that means insights on two other important subjects: the President himself, and the concept of the free press. Karl is a long-time journalist, who‘s covered the White House for decades. He illustrates why it‘s dangerous to have the President constantly calling out “fake news,” or “enemy of the people.” Recommend!

Maria514626 Yikes! I want to put this on my TBR. and I don‘t. 🤦‍♀️ 5y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @Maria514626 It was different from a lot of the other books about this administration. Not as angry making or heart breaking, but still pretty intense. Karl has journalistic distance and that‘s different from other authors. Check out my longer review for more. 5y
Maria514626 Good to know. I‘ll check out your review! 5y

arubabookwoman I liked this one too. A little different from the other Trump books I‘ve read with its focus on his relationship with the press. I think Karl bent over backwards to be “fair” to Trump. 5y
BarbaraTheBibliophage @arubabookwoman Yes, I agree. He was very even tempered. Figure that he‘s got to be able to do and keep his job too. 5y

As hard as times are right now reading this brought me great insight on how hard it is to be a reporter and get the news for people like us. I know I can never do it. This book gives us inside on Trump before and after becoming President of the United States. I found it very informative and intriguing on the day in and day out of being president and from the eyes of somebody who has known him for years.

BarbaraTheBibliophage This one is definitely on my list—thanks for the review! 5y
BookNightOwl @BarbaraTheBibliophage I read it all within 24 hours. I just couldn't put it down I was so invested in it. 5y

Our president is a disgrace and he insults the press for doing their job.

Anyone else want to purchase Jon‘s book in solidarity against this embarrassment?

Between_The_Covers I definitely want to read it 5y
Butterfinger I will certainly look into it. 5y
vivastory Literally thousands of people are dying everyday & he's still worried about not getting enough praise. I know 8 year olds with greater emotional maturity. 5y

DrSabrinaMoldenReads It‘s awful...just awful... 5y
Tamra It‘s really pathetic. He is incredibly fragile - just what we need in leadership right now. 🙄 5y
Tamra I‘d bet money on the fact in media circles it‘s an accolade to get called out by him - demonstrates a reporter is doing her job. 5y
JoScho Narcissistic human garbage. He truly makes my stomach hurt. 5y
