Mehso-so

Gotta admit I wasn‘t too terribly compelled to keep reading this one. The story flowed well enough but the plot and characters seemed lost and almost pointless. Sort of a 1950s cop drama involving the big wigs of government. With so much at play it was almost hard to get into the simplicity of the storyline... just kind of a miss for me.

Pickpick

This is a brand-new series (there's 1 sequel to this so far) in the hard-boiled noir sub-genre. NYC, 1954, police detective Michael Cassidy assigned to a murder case in Hell's Kitchen. He's also got to get his father's name cleared from Senator McCarthy's black list & determine if his lover is a Soviet spy. I came to really enjoy this book. It's light, fast-paced, gritty, predictable, & so much fun. #PairWith: Aberfeldy 12 Scotch, on the rocks.

MrBook @Dogearedcopy 😂 *big hug* It's still good 😁👍🏻. 8y
MrBook It's almost a default for hard-boiled noir to have ice in the glass 😎. 8y
