Short excerpt: Then Darwin came in twos and threes to discuss the situation, and while the men offered every form of service and encouragement, the women-folk spoke of a woman going bush as sheer madness.

Near the end of this awesome recount of some real Australian history.
Tough times on the cattle station in the Northern Territory but this young lady takes it like it is & deals with whatever comes her way.

I can't imagine living mostly on damper & tea, but this seems to be their main diet.
Not to mention being so far from society, their mail & supplies are delivered every 3 months! Even so, everyone is fair & selfless on the Elsey.

#MarchIntoThe70s #Day7 #WildWorld My country is definitely a wild world. This is an autobiographical novel by a young English bride in 1902 who is the first European woman to live in the Mataranka area in Northern Territory when her husband becomes a partner in Elsey Cattle Station, 300 miles south of Darwin. That part of Oz is some of the harshest landscapes in the world, the heat, dust & fauna must have been a shock to a proper young lady. 🦘

I've got a two-in-one edition of these classic works of fictionalized autobiography, originally published in 1905 & 1908. Fascinating look at a white woman's life in the outback. #AustralianAuthors
