My brother loaned me this book which I started but put back on the shelf for another day. It dark, bleak, tragic..He‘s not one to recommend a happy book.
PICK! Writing is succint and beautiful, much like in Spill, Simmer, Falter, Wither or Crossing Purgatory. He‘s likened to Cormac McCarthy. Set in 1830s Ireland, Coll Coyle accidentally falls into trouble with his landowners and is on the run, being pursued for vengeance. A sad, melancholic, gritty story. I loved it.
#fullofadventure 1830s Donegal. As famine approaches Coll Coyle learns his family are to be evicted from their small farm without explanation. Having failed to reason with his feckless landlord, he succumbs to a moment of violence & has to abscond. Pursued by a relentlessly loyal servant, Coyle runs for his life Dense, poetic, quotable. Fav quote is of him calling to door of the big house: Nothing from her but the full length of a look #booktober
