pickWhile waiting for the 3rd in the “Parish Orphans of Devon” series from Libby, I realized I had another book by the same author already purchased on my Kindle. I didn‘t like this standalone as much as the series, but I did still like this historical romance enough to give it a slight pick. I thought the conflicts were resolved much too easily and the relationship between the love interests was mostly developed before the time period of the book.

This book was my introduction to her writing and I‘ll definitely be going back to read her complete backlist. Set in a small, gossip-laden town of Shepton Worthy in 1864 Somerset, England, the beauty of the English countryside is breath-taking and the atmosphere of Victorian society comes alive. Mark and Beryl are simply lovely and perfect for each other.
