Granted you have to be pretty into political books to read a 500 page book about the Goldwater campaign It is the start of a story of the Republicans getting to Reagan , & pulling the party to the right.Instead of the Koch bros, we have their dad Fred , The John Birch society, Phyllis Schlafly. It was a wild time, instead of social media we had propaganda paperbacks that were cheaper when you bought them in bulk to share with everyone. It could be👇

Thankful that I have allergies the last few days and nothing worse.
Reading the tagged book plus others.
Positives this week include talking with friends on the phone rather than just texting .This will be an unsatisfying Thanksgiving cuz of covid, making the best of it.Littens always improve my days.

🤔I was going to update my reading progress, and got this . I‘ve never seen it before. How about you ,Littens?

Klou Yeah, goodreads is struggling for us tonight too. Keep trying and it does load eventually. Made me rewrite a review just as I was about to click post because it kicked me out. 4y
rubyslippersreads I can get it to load, and I now get notifications, but my feed hasn‘t updated in over a day. ☹️ 4y
erinreads My feed is stuck like @rubyslippersreads. 😭 Not refreshing even though I can go to friends‘ profiles and see updates. I was able to update my progress on my current read and could see that worked. (edited) 4y

I‘m gonna call it the project.Back when Nixonland was a hardback, heard it got high praise. Finally found a cheap paperback but discovered there was an earlier book on Goldwater. Now I get the ad for the new one , feeling like a deep dive on social & political history, and maybe discover how we got here.A last quarter project, I‘ll see how it goes.4 volumes 😱
Cheer me on Littens !😄

Amiable I started “Nixonland” a few years ago —got about 200 pages in and then put it down. Should probably pick it up again sometime. 😬 4y
Nute Maybe it‘s what we all should do...some kind of deep sea dive into politics and history to see how we got here. Good luck! Keep me posted on your insights. 4y

When the world seems terrible, go to the books! Perlstein's trilogy traces our current climate back to 1964. Here's to enlightenment!
